The Fitness Thread

Anyone else into fitness?

I'm not a member of a gym but will join one in a couple of months.

At the moment I'm making do with my own set of dumbells and doing pushups.

Been taking protein shakes for last month to help bulk up a bit considering I've high metabolism and weight gain is a bitch.

I'm 6'1" and weigh just slightly under 13 stone at the moment. Hoping to bulk up some more. Still look quite thin. Damn body.

I avoid gyms despite having a membership due to feeling terribly out of place next to all the uber-tanked guys who stare at themselves pumping weights in the mirror for hours on end

But I'm not opposed to running and some push-ups/weights at home when i could be bothered...really need to dedicate a bit more to it though.

Know the feeling mate. Kinda why I'm bulking up a bit and getting into shape before I go to a gym. When I do join one, I'll be mainly using it for cardio so will avoid all the dicks who think they are chiseled out of marble and pose like they have constipation.

If you plan to get fit, you'd need to keep to a routine every week.

At that height, you are probably underweight.

What weight of dumbells do yous lift and typically how many reps and sets would yous do?

I eat well, balanced diet and don't have things like coke or too much alcohol.
I'm only 5'10" but weigh just over 11stone and work out by playing water polo, rugby and have my own weight's at home, although they are somewhat light these days...
My school allows student to use the gym and the pool free of charge, so I pop in there for about 6-8 hours a week(2hour sessions)

Dogz-I lift 17.5kg dumbells(38.5lb) in 3 sets of 20.

At the moment I'm working biceps with 25kg dumbell by doing as many sets as I can of 30 reps.

Done 40 reps in a set earlier. Highest I've reached yet. Think its time to increase the weight. Just a pity this is the highest weight available with the current dumbells I own. Will have to buy some new ones.

At times the fitness thing is tough. Days I don't feel like it.

For the moment, exercising 5 days per week. Working different muscle group each day. Protein shake before and after work out.

yea same with me xD

theres some times you dont feel like going at all. but if you end up going you usually feel better afterwards, instead of staying home the rest of the day wondering if youre gonna go or not.

i do a 4 split. been trying many different programs, but since its summer now i like a program thats pretty quick each day.

I find that if I skip a week exercising, the next week it is really tough so I don't do much.

I don't plan to get too big. Just atheletic build.

What height and weight are you Roar?

hmm yeah, the exercies are important, and its nice to use many different exercies for each muscle.

variation = key to succes

but then again food is even more important

Eating the right food = 70% of your workout.

edit:

im 1.79 high and 80kg

but ive been doing this for a while so i basicly consist of muscles
