Photoshop CS3 Help

I got Photoshop CS3 Extended (Portable Version) and it's fine it's just that know it's acting annoying and isn't opening anything that isn't PSD. Whenever i open a PNG file i get this message

"Could not complete your request because the file-format cannot parse the file"

Please help.

nope, it didn't work, i restart photoshop and then it again says that same thing after some time.

I googled your problem and someone suggested this:

"A way around this is to right click on the file and select Open with,, tell it to open the file with IE, (assuming you have IE, not sure if this works in other browsers but you could try)and it should then display the pic in a browser for you. Just right click it and save as and rename it, that should solve the problem."

well, problem is that no matter what type of file it is it refuses to open. only PSD files open and anything else doesn't open and the message comes, the one above.

What sort of images are they? Where did you get them from? Is it every image from your PC too? Has it just started to happen and worked before? Have you tried draging and dropping into PS and File > Open?

Just trying to get an idea of the problem. I've heard of lots of problems if have an "obtained" copy, could just be something Adobe have done to stop "obtained" versions
