Xbox update sept. 29/08 - Guild Inn

first of all i have been reading articles and it says nothing was done... i logged on perfectly fine this morning to be greeted by the same dashboard

but... i think something is happening none of my friends can log on either someone else from somewhere other then bc wanna try logging on??

What do you mean they can't log-in? Does it just say 'Offline'? If so, that is because they haven't turned their Xbox's on yet.

Also, the downtime was just preparation for the new Xbox LIVE! experience.

Yeah, they virtually did nothing to xbox.com or to the dashboard except on xbox.com you now view all of your friends on one page instead of multiple pages like previously.
But they were just 'gearing' it up for the fall update when the new 'Xbox Experience' comes out. Should be fun though. =]
