He was born at 20:50 on New Years Eve and what a night that was. We had 9 months of reading books and listening to other peoples experiences to "try" and prepare us for this moment, no one said anything about it being over within 4 hours, start to finish! Labour is a very frightening and exciting thing...

Earlier that day we had been at the hospital because Lindsey had slightly high blood pressure. All was fine and they only wanted to check her over because she was already 4 days overdue. We had actually been told by the midwife 4 weeks before that she thought he would come early... we had 4 weeks of expecting it to start at any moment.

I had just made Lindsey a nice roast chicken dinner on the evening of his arrival. She had only eaten a small amount of it said she felt like she had a bit of stomach ache. Within minutes she was in full blown labour and I mean full blown. Contractions were coming 1 minute apart and lasting for about 30 seconds each, they say that you should go to the hospital when there 10 minutes apart... you can see why we were freaked as they were coming every minute and straight away, no slowly getting quicker and quicker!

I drove her to the hospital and every light was red! We walked from the car park to the entrance and she had to stop every 50 yards as the contractions were so painful. I got her into the hospital and asked for a wheelchair, later they said they thought she was just being a first time mum and over playing it but when they examined her she was fully dilated (which can take hours for some women), they actually said that it would of really hurt to walk!

After lots of gas and air, I gave some to Lindsey and she said she felt like she was down a well with everyone at the top. She did really well as a lot of women use much stronger pain relief.

10 to 9 he was born, via vontouse (sucker on his head), weighing a very healthly 8lb 8. He was the biggest baby on the ward!

They were both in hospital for 8 days, he had a bit of an infection and jaundice but everything was fine.

I've written enough on this (I could write so much more) but will give general updates as he grows up. I do have to add, we made one good looking baby
