Default Glass's Vectoring Lessons (1&2)

I don't know why I haven't posted this here yet.
These are 2 years old, and were made for when I was a 'teacher' on another board. I was supposed to give assignments and what not.

I am by no means a 'vectoring authority'. I've just found a way to vector (vexel technically) that works for me, and has produced some decent results.

If you arent familiar with the pentool, I would suggest taking a look at my 'intro to the pentool' tutorial:
Pen Tool - Lines, Custom Shapes, Rendering .. lesson?

I hope you learn something new!

Othellog, that's good but I think you need more intermediary layers--that is, more layers of slight shading differences. You havensome parts that seem to go from dark to light immediately. Great result, just make it blend more, if you get my drift.

Ya, I understand. I started out with a photo that was about 1200x1200 pixels, I should have resided it from the begging.

that's not too bad, but you don't really want to make a "border" out of a shape...esp. noticeable around the beak. you don't want the outside edge to be the same exact shape as the inside edge, or the outside edge of the 2nd shape inside the first one.

Yea true. The shading also doesn't really make sense to me. What type of lighting would cause central parts or colored areas to be lighter than the other outer areas unless there was an ineividual light on each colored part, which probably isn't the case. Know what im saying?
