pretty sweet the light flare detracts from the mech and the checkerboard floor is disorienting, but nice design

that's the basic render, I've got the proper thing ready for a battle (no lens flare, which is a point light)
@ Grimgor-how does it look LQ, you didn't say?

Spiders are predatory invertebrate animals that have two body segments, eight legs, no chewing mouth parts and no wings.
Phail on your part.

Looks like that spider is the Stephen Hawking of spiders.
Not a bad model though.

yeah-I realised that it had 6 legs after I finished, but the thing is, it'll get harder to rig the more legs I use. In any case there's a type of insect that look like a spider but has 6 legs.

Well, yeah. The render settings can always be higher, but these were just to show the model and only 5 min renders. The final render has a proper setting and took a hour on a relatively low setting, there's always a trade off since I don't have a render farm of 100 dual-quad core servers.

Just out of curiosity, what is the advantage of rendering it in Vue?
This is looking quite good though, perhaps add some fine details in ps as well when its done.

Well, the renderer is better than Carrara, it handles huge poly counts very well(I have a 5mill poly bg terrain and plants in the final render) and I can't be arsed to set up lighting in C4D, which seems a bit hit and miss compared to Vue's auto updating mini render since I only have C4D 9.6
